TikTok Shop's holiday push turns the For You page into a checkout lane
Live shopping events are getting bigger, and sellers are hiring hosts full time.
Scroll TikTok this month and it can feel like walking through a mall. Product demos, unboxings and countdown live streams sit between the dances and the recipes, each with a little shopping bag icon that turns a video into a storefront.
TikTok Shop is going all in on the holidays, with bigger live shopping events and promotions designed to make buying something as easy as liking it. For small sellers, the results can be dramatic: one good video can clear a warehouse.
The rise of the host
Live selling is becoming a job. Brands are hiring full-time hosts who can carry a three-hour stream, answer questions in real time and keep energy high. It looks a lot like home shopping television, rebuilt for a phone.
Will users mind?
The risk is fatigue. A feed that feels like an ad break all the time can push people away. TikTok's challenge is to make shopping feel like content, not interruption, at least until the holiday rush is over.
